Alchol and Drug Abuse Rehab

First off, I apologize.  The internet went down here last night so I was not able to post again.  Honestly, I think that was good thing as I really to think about what I experienced yesterday.  It was really eye opening.

So yesterday we went to Coita, a town about an hour away from Tuxtla.  Coita is home to one of HWI’s 17 water systems in Mexico.  Each of those water systems, based in a church with the intent of blessing the community, donates some of their water to local needs.  One such recipiant is Casa Hogar.  They receive 75 gallons of water donated to them each day.

Casa Hogar is privately run, donation driven home of orphans or children whose family cannot afford to feed or cloth them.  Sounds sad, and it is, but the place had a really peaceful feel to it.  The kids where happy, playing games, studying, and doing chores.  I was expecting something much more depressing.  From what I hear, this is one of the nicest orphanages in all of Central America.  I guess most of the other that Greg, out team leader, has seem are very depressing.

So today we are going to a different recipient of the Coita system donated water, an alcohol and drug rehab center.  I have no idea what to expect.  I am little intimidated honestly.  Kids just seem naturally friendly.  Recovering addicts seem potentially less friendly.

Please pray that I have an open heart to serve these Chiapanecos with a genuine love.  I am not sure how much direct contact we will have with them since we will be preparing a vegetable garden for them so that the can grow their own food.

Well I really need to go.  The team is watching me type and I must look rather antisocial right now.

Here are few more pics for you…
